The Octagon Restaurant in Thornhill is a steakhouse in an elegant setting perfect for special occasions and making even a simple night out full of charm and history. The Octagon serves up charcoal broiled steaks, fish, seafood and more. Functions can also be accommodated.

The sophisticated setting at The Octagon has made them a favourite for 50 years. With special touches such as the full flavor of the tableside prepared Caesar salad and finely-aged cuts of beef prepared to order, it is easy to see that the entire family will be impressed.

Steak was ordered medium rare, came charred. Charred, as in black, crispy flakes falling off. Escargots had a sandy texture. Absolutely no seasoning on steak and mashed potatoes. Veggies were ice cold. Asked in advance for a slice of cake, with a candle for a birthday. They brought a scoop of ice cream with a candle, and asked twice if we wanted dessert. Paying this kind of money, expected much better.

As for the birthday, we do not serve cake for free for birthdays; it is a restaurant policy, and we do ice cream instead. Our servers should have mentioned that. Thank you again for your feedback. A lovely dinning experience in this elegant old world steak house. The service was very professional and attentive. Cesar salad for two was delicious and well portioned. Enjoyed the Rockefeller Oysters but be prepared for a very rich taste of cheese/cream. The streaks were a cooked to our liking but if choosing the garlic mashed potato’s to accompany it is a very small position. Overall very pleasant experience.

greek salad not good small amount of feta, steak is tough, we said medium rare they did it medium. lamb chop is medium rare we said medium. the only good is my lobster bisque and the new york cheesecake. Overall it was just ok.

Really enjoyed the experience. They had me at the Garlic Bread. Service was exceptional. We over ordered a bit….. but took home some leftovers. Yum.

Food and atmosphere are great! They have the best Caesar salad in the GTA! Sadly we can’t return as I don’t always want a full steak dinner … and they don’t approve or customers only having salad and a bottle of wine … the delicious Caesar and wonderful wine were all we wanted to enjoy.

We enjoyed our meal. The steaks were deliciously and cooked as requested. The sides and appetizers were good too. There was very little wait time and we received a dessert to celebrate our wedding anniversary. All in all a very pleasant expression, Thank you.
