The Old Guinea provides a completely unique dining experience, combining genuine Italian cuisine with breathtaking views of rural Hertfordshire. The Old Guinea, dates back to 1826 and is located between Shenley and Potters Bar and is a blend of tradition and modernity.

Our restaurant embraces classic Italian dishes as well as innovative new flavours and is complemented by an eclectic cocktail and wine menu. We are a family-run, family-friendly restaurant that serves excellent homemade cuisine, fresh ingredients, professional service, and a welcoming ambience.

We are open all day from 8.30 a.m. serving a delicious breakfast in the morning and continuing with our all-day menu from midday in our beautiful Garden Room and restaurant, dogs are welcome in The Floral Bar and in our large garden when weather permits.

Having specified I did not want cheese on my Lamb Ragu it came covered in it. This was replaced but I did not finish it as it was so "gloopy" My Partner is strictly Vegetarian and was horrified to find chicken in her salad after expressing her needs on ordering. The servers were very helpful so I expect the problem is with the kitchen. The salad was taken off the bill. The 4 of us felt that there were too many table as it was crowded as one might expect on a Sunday lunchtime to be fair. Overall it was disappointing and we will not go back there again.

We both had Pizzas which tasted good but I had indigestion for six hours afterwards. My Son ordered a pint of Lemonade and Lime to drink. When the drinks arrived the Lemonade was served in a pint glass with a separate little jug of Lime which I thought was novel. Until I saw the Bill! £4.10 for the Lemonade and £1.40 for the Lime. Total £5.50 for a Lemonade and Lime! Outrageous!

Visited this resturant before and always had a great time, visited today with my twins for their birthday and was in the process of putting up a birthday banner and told this wasn't allowed! The two staff members who served us were so unfriendly and mumbled it was hard to understand what they were saying. Most of us ordered the chicken milanese with spaghetti as they had run out of chunky chips, the portion was big and this was tasty. The meatballs however were tastless and had hard bits of meat in the middle. We did not see any staff during our meal in order to bring this to their attention. The meatball starter and the chicken goujins were also cold but the soup and garlic bread were hot and tasty. The staff made no effort to engage with us despite informing them twice we were attending for a birthday treat. We have been coming her for five years for my twins birthday but today's visit was very disappointing and will likely not return. On a positive note the cocktails were very tasty and the view is fantastic but food needs a lot of improvement and staff could do with cheering up

We had a really great meal here. The food came out quickly and everything tastes great. There were a couple of mistakes with the orders but they were so quick to rectify it with no issues so can’t fault them whatsoever. Very reasonable and will be back! :)

The food is largely good here but unfortunately the service cancelled can be awful depending on your server. I ordered a large bottle of mineral water and asked for ice and lemon. It arrived with neither. I got the lemon on the second request but the ice only came after the fourth! On each course, one item came quite a while after the others so one person was waiting for food. We also had a long wait and several requests for the bill. This is the second time we have had service issues, and people we know on other tables said similar. Shame as it's a lovely place.

From the initial greeting through to desert this was a superb lunch excellent service and food! The view onto rolling fields is great and the interior is very classy. Great staff and the kitchen clearly know how to cook Italian inspired food. Will definately return maybe on a Friday evening for the live music next time.

Restaurant staff were friendly and fun. Demonstrating great customer service and a good sense of humour when engaging with our table. They followed special requests for alterations and provided condiments before we had a chance to ask.
