The stunning Sofitel London St James is located in the former home of Cox’s and King’s bank in the very heart of London, England. This sympathetically renovated building is English heritage grade II listed and now houses one of London's most unique five-star hotels - combining traditional British design with a contemporary style that is unmistakably French.

Inspired by the Hotel’s French origins mixed with British influence,
The Rose Lounge brings a mix of classic French flavors whilst also moving away from the standard concept of finger sandwiches by introducing something different to the savory offering with dishes such as aubergine and feta tart or shrimp beignet with lemon mayonnaise.

This theme continues on the sweet side, with a twist on the classic afternoon tea with a chocolate salted caramel and praline délice, Followed by a strawberry and basil tartlet and a lemon madeleine.

Lovely experience with my family at the Rose Lounge on Christmas Day. They offer a vegan tea, that accommodated my daughters, and regular tea for my husband and me. All of the food was delicious. The interior is quite festive and the waitstaff superb. They were thoughtful enough to prepare a birthday treat for me for my birthday, which is on Christmas Day. Excellent!

The Rose Lounge was a total rip off - I paid £184 for a small festive afternoon tea for two, which is extortionate for what it was. This didn't even include any alcohol! The savoury course was tiny only 1 sandwich and 3 bitesize bits, the scones were two bites - for £92 per person (inc. service charge) I would expect full size scones. The cakes looked nice, but weren't for me, unpleasant flavours, but I appreciate this is personal preference. It was nice enough, the staff were friendly and the venue/atmosphere was pleasant. The cello player was a nice touch, but he only seemed to know 5 songs so it became very repetitive. There any so many other places for afternoon tea in London that I would recommend over and above here.

Had the most wonderful afternoon tea with my daughter at The Rose Lounge! The pink decor and cozy chairs made us feel like princesses, and the staff went above and beyond to make our visit special. Love how they served everything on traditional tiered stands – the warm scones were a highlight and my daughter couldn't get enough of the treats! Perfect spot for a special mother-daughter date in London, though definitely book ahead. Worth the magical experience!

Best service we have ever experienced. The servers we had specifically Georgiana and Romania were the absolute best! They took their time explaining everything to us and did it so perfectly. I really recommend this place for high tea.

Lovely tea service. I thought the finger sandwiches were a bit underwhelming (desserts were great, so save a lot of room), and it’s not as cool of a spot as some other teas in London. Service was friendly and attentive, and the teas were good.

The service is outstanding. But, the food. Its so overpriced and yet bland and boring. And If you pay 80 pounds, i expect more than i quarter of a muffin.
