Brucan Pubs are delighted to reopen this much loved local pub in the bustling village of Witley.
Whilst food is undoubtedly the main feature, The Star has a relaxed drinking bar with roaring fires in the winter, rotating cask ales, perfectly curated wine lists and a warm welcome assured.

Back for another year is Witley’s premier New Year’s Eve experience, Dine and Disco at The Star. Throw on your finest attire with a black tie dress code positively encouraged (although not compulsory) and join us as we ring in the New Year in style! If you’d rather skip the dining and head straight to the disco then our Bar Ticket option is for you! Available for £10 per person, including a welcome glass of fizz, then you can just slide over to the dance floor and disco yourself all the way into 2025!

Table of 8 booked. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. However, the portion sizes of some of the main dishes was extremely small, a child’s portion equivalent. The prices of these particular dishes were astronomical. £24 for shepherds pie (a spoonful with more mash requested) and 3 carrots was unacceptable.

Second time we’ve been here. Obviously Sundays are very popular as much busier than when we first went which added to the good buzz. We were advised there may be a delay on food as they were so busy, but there wasn’t . The food was superb, we all had the white onion soup with truffle oil to start, followed by a roast. Everything was piping hot and very tasty. Portions were so generous no room for desert but we rounded things off with a cocktail (the negroni mocktail for the driver )was particularly good. Nothing negative to say- well worth a visit.

As always the food at the Star was exceptional, all four of us chose fish and the chef really knows his fish cookery - beautiful, moist, soft flaky fish that melted in the mouth. The lunch offer is just outstanding value for money, this was our fourth visit and it seems to get even better every time, delicious food and great service, we highly recommend The Star, its definitely our new favourite.

Friendly, knowledgable, polite and helpful staff. Fantastic, delicious food of amazing proportions. We are blessed to call it our local❤️

Portion sizes were small - including small fish finger sandwiches with chips OR garnish, genuinely tiny kids portions (we had to give 6 and 8 year olds our chips so they weren’t hungry) and a pitiful side salad for £4.50 consisting of four lettuce leaves and a few of rocket. Ambience, service and taste otherwise all ok, but having read some good reviews we left there disappointed.

Lovely food, wonderful staff and a warm welcoming atmosphere. I grew up in the area when the star pub was the community centre, with the lovely refurb they did a couple years I can see it being that again with the added bonus of it now a quality bistro/gastro pub!

Its a very nice pub with good service and great food . Well prepared and served . Its a good country pub with a very nice pub garden when the sun is out .

Unfortunately a small group of ramblers had arrived at the same time as us but they seemed to have priority. So the speed of service was dreadful! We waited a reasonable time for our starters but much too long ( ?40 minutes) for the main course Our starters were ok. My friends was happy with the mackerel but my goats cheese and beetroot was very disappointing.. the beetroot squares did not appear to be fresh and the chunk of goats cheese was just that… no creative cooking!! The main courses were very disappointing.. the whole plaice was served in a very slapdash way! No plate supplied to put the bones, and cold bits of crayfish on top.. we had requested that the samphire was added to the other main but that didn’t happen. My hake was tasty but the potatoes were plain boiled with black bits and undercooked!! I love coming to the Star and have never before had such a bad experience with you. I have always had very good meals but feel very sad that it all went wrong this time.
