Join us for an unforgettable dining experience, whether it’s for lunch, afternoon tea, or dinner. Our carefully curated menus offer a tantalising selection designed to please every palate and showcases the finest local ingredients and culinary talent, ensuring a memorable meal with every visit. For those seeking a more refined experience, our afternoon tea features an elegant assortment of sweet and savoury treats.

Lunch served Monday - Saturday, 12noon – 4.45pm
Afternoon Tea served Wednesday - Saturday, 2.45pm – 4.30pm. Bookings are required to be made within 48 hours of your reservation
À la Carte Dining: Daily from 5pm
Sunday Lunch: from 12 noon

Our bar and snug open daily offer a great spot for coffee, tea, drinks, and bar snacks. Well-behaved four-legged friends are welcome in our bar until 7 PM

    Say hello to Afternoon Tea at The Tempus! (Hey Parents, we are also offering a Children's Afternoon Tea, treat your little munchkins for £19.95, just let us know how many children in the party in the notes!!!!) Indulge in a mouth-watering selection of delicate finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones and a delicious array of miniature cakes and pastries.​ However we do require 48 hours notice as everything is prepared on the day for you. Our brand-new menu has been carefully designed by our very own pastry chef, using freshly sourced ingredients from Northumberland and the Borders. Need we say more?​ Afternoon Tea will be served every Friday and Saturday. Pre-booking is required 48hrs before.

    The dining room at Tempus is more like a canteen than an up market restaurant. The lighting is much too bright. The food was OK without being memorable. The main of hake on a slightly curried risotto would have been better had it just been fish with chips or risotto on its own. Breaded fish on top of risotto is bound to go soggy. The vegetarian curry was tasty but more like a soup than a curry. The starter of duck bonbons was nice. Overall we were expecting better.

    Service a little erratic today. Food just ‘ok’: sandwich selection not very interesting. Sadly, I had an upset stomach through the night which wasn’t pleasant Would I visit again - most likely as the location, and the Tempus itself, is lovely

    Everything from arriving for pre dinner drinks to the meal was absolutely superb. Bar area and restaurant are well furnished and immaculate. Staff are friendly without being overbearing. Simple, uncluttered tables, with a modern feel. The food was beautiful. We both had different starters, mains and desserts, and we couldn’t fault any of it. We did find it quite expensive, but the quality of the food was among the best we’ve had anywhere. It would be nice to see perhaps a set/fixed price menu for hotel guests, particularly mid week.

    Fantastic Sunday lunch. What a place! My roast pork was really delicious. Service staff all excellent and a very trendy fit out. Highly recommend you try this new eatery

    An impressive restaurant with efficient service, the overall impression however was brought down by the sight of Two dogs sitting on the upholstered seats throughout their owner’s meal nearby. If you adopt a dog friendly policy then surely staff need to enforce the “No dogs on seats” Policy too, for those of us in decent clothes who don’t want to be smelling of dogs backsides when we get up. (And the waiter we asked about this failed to follow it through).
