Situated in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, The Wensleydale Heifer may be within easy reach of the A1 and M6 but it still feels totally rural. A traditional white-washed inn complete with leaded lights and swinging sign, The Wensleydale Heifer gives the visitor a real flavour of Britain meaning it’s popular not only with locals but with tourists searching for the real Yorkshire. From the lounge, with its comfortable leather settees, country pursuit paintings and imposing fireplace through to the wicker seating, beamed ceilings and eau de nil painted walls, the interior could have leapt from the pages of Country Homes magazine. The contemporary British menu includes seaood from across Britain plus locally sourced meat and veg, all prepared using the Wensleydale Heifer philosophy – keep it simple.

                                                    Absolutely delicious food as always. Top quality ingredients and presentation, a thoroughly enjoyable treat. Let down a little this time by the staff who appeared like they could not be bothered on a quiet Monday evening. This would not put me off recommending or returning however as previous visits the staff have been top notch, this time just lacked a little pizzazz. Not a cheap meal out so more of a special occasion but you don’t feel ripped off - you definitely get what you pay for in this instance. We will be back, thank you.

                                                    Wonderful experience for our family celebration lunch. The service and food quality were outstanding over a very busy Sunday lunchtime. We had a two course traditional Sunday lunch which was delicious - the quality of ingredients were excellent and the portions filled some very large appetites. This was the perfect place to provide a memorable meal which we will remember for a long time

                                                    A very comfortable restaurant. It has character in all aspects and charm which is lacking in so many restaurants. I've given 5 stars in all areas so there's not much to say. I was with a party who had all been before. It's one I wish to return to. It's a place you know will be reliable and deliver every time you go.

                                                    The food and service were exceptional. It is quite expensive but that is reflected in the quality of the food. The interior decor let’s the experience down as it is not as tasteful as the menu (particularly the waiting/lounge area) but that shouldn’t put anybody off going if excellent food is top of the priority list
