I have been to Troy’s in Alameda many times over the years. They have expanded and created a really nice restaurant. Unfortunately for me the quality of the food has suffered. It has lost flavor and substance. Perhaps that is what happens when you expand?
The Meza platter was just meh 🫤. The Lamb platter that I got had way too much rice which was flavorless, the lamb kabobs were tough, the grilled tomato was under grilled and again tasteless as was the grilled zucchini. Over all the meal was a disappointment.
While I am not big on salt, a few sprinkles while cooking would have made a really, really big difference in the flavors of the food.
I miss the small intimate Troy’s and the wonderfully flavored food that they once cooked. This new, improved Troy’s didn’t hit the mark for me. It’s clear that they didn’t bring their old chef to the new, improved restaurant. Finally, hire a professional bartender. The servers cannot make drinks.
Nick the Greek’s food in San Leandro has better tasting food.
