True Chesapeake is a Baltimore restaurant born of an oyster farm. Executive Chef Zack Mills creates a seasonal menu that showcases oysters from our farm in St. Jerome’s Creek, Southern Maryland — raw, roasted, and in signature dishes like Classic Rockefeller and French Onion Oysters. But, the oysters are just the beginning. Our award winning menu celebrates the bounty of the Chesapeake region by using locally sourced seafood, meat, and produce to create exquisite dishes that evolve with the seasons. Chef Mills has been featured extensively for his use of invasive seafood species, a very delicious way to help the Chesapeake Bay. Don't forget to order the Blue Crab and Bone Marrow dip or handmade pasta. We have an expertly curated wine list, beer selection, and cocktails - both classic and creative. Ample bar, high-top, and terrace seating available for walk-ins on a first-come-first-serve basis.

My wife and I went for Valentine’s Day date and had a great time. Food was great and drinks were good also. We shared oysters, blue crab and bone marrow, blue crab Mac n cheese and braised beef. Oysters were perfect, very big and fresh 10/10. Love hot sauce and vinegar sauce that came with it. Bone warrow was really good, first time trying something like it. 9/10. Mac n cheese was more creamy with crab, very good. 8/10. Braised beef was very fatty and would say it was about 30% fat. Had to eat a the fatty parts. Extremely tender though with a pretty good purée on the plate. I would give 6.7/10 because of fat. Love the plating of everything. Drinks were good. We had old fashioned and Paloma. Overall 9.5/10 experience will definitely be coming back to try more food!

Overall customer service was great. Food did take a while to come out, however the manager was apologetic. Oysters were really good. I don't recommend the mac and cheese. There is no lump crab in it unless you inquire about getting a side of crab in it to add in. Also ordered a crab cake and fried oysters. Only took a bite of the crab cake and took the rest home. Started to eat the rest of it at home only to discover a piece of blond hair baked into the crab cake. Stick to the oysters and drinks if you decide to go.

This place had us waiting as if they’re chick-fil-a except they did not acknowledged that waiting for water, bread, small plates, drinks would be an hour or more. Do Better. Snarky comments from staff with no resolve as if the patron is at fault for their short comings. Never again will I visit this place.

While we take full responsibility for our shortcomings, we do not tolerate rude behavior, especially cursing at our staff. We offered to replace your entrée and find a solution, but you declined. This place is great. The food is fantastic as is the space. What I really like is that the food is creative but it's not trying to hard. Some restaurants just go overboard trying to make stuff overly fancy for fancy's sake and it all seems silly. Not True Chesapeake. They do it right.

We are repeat visitors to True Chesapeake, their oysters are incredible. But this meal was our best yet. Our server was excellent, very professional and efficient. Drinks and food items were delicious, and well-paced. We never felt rushed or delayed. An unexpected touch was a table side visit from the owner who stopped by to check on our experience. When he learned that our visit had special meaning for us (41st anniversary of our engagement), he learned what we liked and brought us a bourbon tasting! As we were just ordinary customers, this personal touch that made our great experience extraordinary. Why patronize a chain restaurant or establishment where you are just a number when you can have a great meal and also feel as though you truly matter? TC, please keep up the good work - you are a local gem!

Thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience. The atmosphere was very cool, refurbished industrial style and the service very friendly and attentive. My husband and I enjoyed our meal very much, starting with a delicious assortment of raw oysters!! We will definitely return!!

Beautiful restaurant with an eclectic menu. Oysters were top notch and service was exceptional. Crab cake was very disappointing and overpriced.

I made a reservation for my birthday and, the cutest touch was the signed birthday card on my table. I tried three small plates, the oyster shooter and rhe oyster on the half shell and all of them were amazingly yummy. I loved that the menu was so oyster focused with the oyster aoli in the steak tartar and oyster croutons in the Ceasar salad. We ended the evening with bourbon maple ice-cream and a pineapple rum. The icecream reminded me of homemade ice-cream.
