Value was great, food quality varied from dish to dish - calamari was way too salty and was served with a tartar sauce type of dip (tartar sauce with calamari??) instead of a typical cocktail sauce. Our server stopped by to see how things were when we were nearly thru the calamari - my husband likes things salty, I don’t, so he ate most of it up, I asked if they had any real cocktail sauce and we waited and waited, and pretty much gave up on ever getting it. Our service was not great. We finally did get the cocktail sauce though and it was great, but only had a few pieces of calamari left. It was really a shame that they didn’t serve it with cocktail sauce up front, or that the server didn’t come by earlier… but why not?? Main entrees tasted good but were very rich. We both took home leftovers. My Cacicio e Pepe Ravioli had no flavor of pepper in it however it still tasted good. Ravioli was not cooked all the way through either, so while overall the dish tasted good, it could have been much, much better. Veal Parmesan was very good but side of pasta not good enough to eat or take home in hierarchy of food needs. We didn’t look at menu for desserts.
We would probably go back to try different things - my husband and I have different tastes so fortunately for restaurants they don’t get as many dishes sent back as they would if it was me by myself. I don’t like things as salty as my husband does. They make me feel sick. And I’m not sure how the servers expectations have been set up at Wexford Public on how often they need to check in with their customers, but I don’t think we should have been able to come close to finishing the calamari before we were revisited again. Just my two cents worth… otherwise you end up with a situation such as the one we had.
We have been testing calamari everywhere we can get it, to compare/contrast. So far of all the places we have tested from Pgh to the East, WP has rec’d our worst review incl. 1 where we didn’t think it WAS calamari!

I know I spoke to you both when you had your entrees, and nothing was reported to me as negative when I asked how they were tasting. I am saddened that I could not remedy any dissatisfaction with you while you were on site. It would have been my pleasure to correct the dishes for you. We do train our servers to check in on their tables after the first few bites. I will discuss with all staff that even on busy nights they need to check in with every course. If you have a moment and can email me, I would love to invite you back on the house so that we can provide you with an exceptional experience.
Thank you,
Melanie
