We are a country Gastropub owned by farmers. Our farm supplies the beef, lamb and pork and we source other ingredients from local producers where we can. Our small seasonal menu changes regularly reflecting what is available in our area. We pride ourselves on being very much a country pub, offering freshly prepared seasonal food and a warm welcome. We also love offering locally produced drinks, such as gins, rums, ales and wines, giving you the complete taste of Sussex.

    We have eaten in many pubs and restaurants in the area and the White Hart is consistently the best in this part of East Sussex.

    Did not disappoint .. this is our go to place .. the best .. food excellent .. Paul and Bengie go extra mile to make visit enjoyable.. log fire in wood burner in winter making very cosy atmosphere and fabulous outdoor experience in warmer weather .. location with stunning views .. can’t speak highly enough and there is accommodation too .. beautifully kitted out rooms with great facilities.. highly recommend.

    Great location. The views are stunning. It's nice & clean, and the staff are polite, friendly and attentive... However, it's very overpriced for what it is. The Sunday roast was somewhat disappointing. What was there was nice, but there wasn't much. The veg was somewhat lacking. 1 potato (quartered), 1 carrot (whole), a spoon of cauliflower puree spread on the plate, & a spoon of greens, accompanied by 2 slices of beef and a Yorkshire pudding... for the princely sum of £22 It tried so hard to be something it's not, & had some great roasts that were better value & more aesthetically pleasing. Never before have I been left hungry after a roast dinner, wishing I had gone for a starter. Also, the ugly, freyed carpet seam that ran across the restaurant let down what was a relatively pleasant dining area.

    We had a lovely meal with my parents at The White Hart. Food was delicious and beautifully presented. Service was helpful, friendly and fun. Couldn’t fault it. It’s a bit pricey, but probably no worse than any other good restaurant and the food was worth it. I would highly recommend.

    I had the cumin hummus and tortilla chips which were obviously home made, which I like. The ox cheeks that followed were sublime and the accompanying broccoli al dente, not soggy as is so often the case. Loved the very local provenance and how proud they are of that The staff were welcoming and responded to my small talk remarks which was nice. We went on a sunny October day and had a lovely view over the hills and dales down to the sea
