Dined there and visited the bar area before. Had an 8pm reservation, arrived a bit early and was told immediately “the kitchen closes at 8:15” .. ok guy, we’re 1/2 hour early, we’d like to start with a cocktail. We went to the bar, had a drink and went to the table a little early and was initially seated next to a window with a pretty strong breeze coming through (the table next to us all had their winter coats on).. I get the place is super old, I live a couple blocks away in a home built in the 1700s. You’d think we didn’t have to ask if we could sit by the fireplace so my wife wouldn’t freeze, but we did and Mr Grumpy the host reluctantly sat us there. Not sure why it was a problem as there was only one other table (the freezing people) seated. The server saved the experience, he was excellent, efficient, didn’t make us feel rushed. The food also was very good. Instead of desert there, we went to Cooke House and the place was PACKED with a great atmosphere after we left White Horse and were the last to leave. I think for about the same money, I’d go to Cooke. The staff were genuinely upbeat and personable, great atmosphere, roaring fireplace (at WH they were trying to put it out while we were still eating!) .. I love the history of WH, but didn’t feel like they cared we were there or not. I don’t need to be coddled, but I don’t want to feel rushed just because you want to go home early that night. Probably the last time we will visit as locals and local business owners
