Yashin Ocean House was founded by some of London's leading experts in Japanese cuisine. Hosting an elegant dining hall with Edwardian architecture, the ambience is perfect for dates with friends, family or couples as well as solo visits. Our menu is centred on satisfying Japanese tapas and our signature Omakase sushi, also offering some of the finest delicacies in the world such as our exclusive Hida wagyu. Enjoy your meal with a glass of sake, as we offer one of the widest ranges in London, and can suggest the perfect sake to enhance and complement your dish.

Our sushi concept is “without soy sauce – but if you want to”. Of course, we can serve as much soy sauce as the diner desires; however, what we want to emphasise is the taste of the fish. Therefore, each piece of sushi that we serve is brushed with the right amount of soy sauce and topped with an accompaniment that harmonises with the flavour of the fish.

    Do not be fooled - from the outside, this restaurant looks a bit dark and perhaps uninviting. However, once inside, you will realise it is a lovely, unpretentious Japanese restaurant. The restaurant has tables and also a counter bar. The food is excellent, with traditional dishes as well as some modern twists. There is the main menu but also daily specials. There is a good choice of sakes both by the glass as well as by the bottle. The staff are friendly and helpful, making you feel welcome. This restaurant is frequented by locals in the know, which says a lot. I will definitely be back to try more dishes and sake!

    The food at Yashin is exceptional. Everything we had was extremely well done and perfectly cooked. The mixed sushi was some of the best I’ve tasted and the tempura prawns light and crispy. Service however was erratic - we were seated in a half empty restaurant right next to people with a fairly noisy and active toddler, so we asked to be moved to a different location which they did. However drinks orders weren’t asked or taken before the food, after the first couple of dishes came out the sushi took about another 30 mins to arrive - it’s made from scratch but even so. We would have had a dessert but again, no wait staff came back so after another 10 mins or so ended up waving someone over and asking for the bill. They weren’t very busy so was really strange .

    What a place, the fish quality is off the charts great and the creative nature of the chefs is lovely. Do yourself a favour and take the omekase options. Sake flight is amazing as well

    Tasting menu was wonderful, staff were great and attentive, and the food was delicious, well presented, unique, and filling. Staff went out of their way to make our anniversary special.
