Yohei Sushi KAHALA is the second restaurant of Yohei Sushi Restaurant, opened in 1990 by Kazuto Obara, the founder and Sushi chef. Enjoy authentic Japanese cuisine in a modern setting, our Omakase courses and seasonal à la carte dishes feature fresh ingredients sourced from Hawaii and directly from Japan.
We offer pairing with sake and wine for a complete experience.
Indulge in a unique Omakase course, beginning with our essential "Ichiban dashi" (golden first dashi) and experience our original dishes inspired by Hawaiian culinary culture.

    店内は綺麗で清潔感があり、店員さんのサービスがとても良く好感が持てた。 ご飯も全て美味しかったので、次回はカウンターで食べたい。 行きつけのお店にしたい。

    肝心の握りの味とボリュームが残念。 知人から聞いていた通りで、コースしか予約できないなら、もう行かない。

    Thank you for your comment. We are starting an à la carte menu from July. Lunch will start from July 15th, and dinner will start from July 1st. We have only served customers with reservations until now, but for the à la carte menu, you can visit us without a reservation.     We had an excellent dining experience in the dining area. The food was excellent, with good-quality ingredients, and the presentation added to the pleasant dining experience. Service was professional and courteous. We had the basic $120 set menu, which was well worth the price for a superb overall value.

    I usually do not write reviews….. I only recently discovered Yohei Kahala on my last trip home as my parents love Japanese food, and many of their favorite local restaurants have recently been disappointing. I must say it is such a blessing to have found such a lovely Japanese restaurant close to their home that my very discerning parents actually love!! The food is impeccable, the service is lovely and the atmosphere is serene & beautiful. Yohei checks all their boxes. Since I do not live locally, I am eternally grateful that they now have a favorite place to go for lunch that meets all of their expectations and more. Mahalo for the calming peace you bring.

    Even at the Holiday special rate of $100 Omakase value was just not there given portion sizes and quality of fish. Mitch’s Sushi sets the 5 star bar. The service was very polite and friendly but on the slow side with long gaps between some courses. They also were unable to accommodate food allergies (they said that they require advance notice but also said that they don’t ask for that info when reservations are booked online so that’s a process issue they need to address). Given all of the amazing options for sushi on the island we won’t be coming back to Yohei. If you’re really looking for amazing sushi Omakase, try Sushi Sho in Waikiki (pricey but worth it!)
