   Great casual and relaxed atmosphere with a view of The Chicago River. Food was delicious especially the roasted chicken!!! Drinks were a bit pricey but the vibe was awesome!!! Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about dishes and beer selections.

   Had lunch with my dad here on the last day of his Chicago visit from Massachusetts. This was my first experience at River Roast and I had originally booked the reservation when the forecast would’ve allowed us to sit outside. Unfortunately, Chicago weather had other plans and we had to sit inside but the ambience was just as nice and we had a table near a window overlooking the river. I had a couple tequila yuzu cocktails (I can’t remember the exact name unfortunately) and they were both very good. We started with the cheese board which was delicious and a great portion for the price. If you’re a cheese lover, definitely try it out! He loves chicken pot pie so he ordered one for his entree and despite it being a very large portion, he finished the whole thing because it was THAT good. I had the half roasted chicken with potatoes. They carved it tableside for me which is a really nice touch. The chicken was perfectly crispy and I don’t know what they cook the potatoes in but they were delicious. They were crispy with a slight hint of vinegar. I could’ve eaten a whole basket. The half chicken is a generous portion and even though I have a very healthy appetite, I couldn’t finish the whole thing. The value for the money is great here. You will leave full and probably have leftovers to take home. This is a great spot to bring family for familiar comfort foods. Staff was very friendly and welcoming, and a manager stopped by our table twice to check on us in addition to the attentiveness of our server. Thank you for making my dad’s last Chicago meal a great one!
