    It's the multi-award winning service we're famous for: four gorgeous tiers served under glittering chandeliers between 12pm & 3.30pm! Afternoon Tea at The Assembly House is £32.00 for one (£18.95 for under-12s) plus a 10% discretionary service charge. ALL afternoon teas served are themed, other than for pre-booked private events. Your booking will be for one of several of our dining rooms, including the main restaurant. We look forward to you being our guests!     The Assembly House is the home of Beforenoon Tea, the breakfast edit of our award-winning afternoon tea served EVERY DAY in our restaurant between 8am to 11am. Beforenoon Tea makes any day a celebration! The menu includes a slightly smaller version of one of our hot freshly-cooked breakfasts and then the Beforenoon Tea Stand which is filled with treats including a ‘fried egg' mango and vanilla cheesecake and cereal-based cakes and tarts. Savouries include mini cream cheese and smoked salmon croissants, Cheddar Cheese, Colman's Mustard and chive scones with bacon jam, three-cheese toasties and Assembly House sausage rolls. Then choose tea or coffee chocolate mousse. All served with loose leaf English Breakfast tea or coffee!

    Available seven days a week from 8am to 11am, our breakfast menu includes favourites such as a Full English Fry-up packed full of local ingredients to Posh Cheese on Toast, our popular Beforenoon Tea (a breakfast edition of our afternoon tea served on three tiers) to our Double-Baked Cheddar and Parmesan Soufflés, Kedgeree to Eggs Benedict, Smoked Salmon and Scrambled Eggs on sourdough to Buttermilk Pancakes with berries and creme fraiche or Chocolate...There's something for everyone on the menu! We also have vegan and vegetarian fry-ups available and homemade breakfast beans on toast. Start your day the right way: under chandeliers!

    The usual excellent service was very poor in this visit. We were left sitting with no order taken for about 15 minutes. Once our tea order was taken we waited for around another 15 minutes before we had to approach another member of staff to get our order. The afternoon tea was good but the vet all let down by the unusual lack of attentive service.

    The staff were very attentive and lovely. Top class for them. We were not given clear instruction as to what we were having and when it was to be served. Scones were amazing, the rest was too sweet not to be taste. Beautiful setting

    Solid and reliable venue for a standard, and the breakfast slot is then quieter than your afternoon tea slots. The main hall was closed off, and i think the last few times i have been i have only ever been in the side room which isnt as impactful as the main larger room. Greeted well but wasnt ticked off any list of a booking, and then the next waitress took 15mins to come over (when the room had four other tables either leaving or arriving, so not busy). Seemed lost on the menu and didnt ask further details about our order (eg whether i wanted ham/salmon/spinach- so i just got given spinach- but neither here nor there as i eat all three options, just a general etiquette of service skill lacking). Then when we had a second pot of tea, (we who like strong tea) were shocked with the taste of our second pot (same tea leaves), and upon investigating into the pot, there must have been confusion between teaspoon and tablespoon as there was probably four heaped tablespoons if not more!! Thankfully the attention of another server who got a replacement promptly to us. Was nice to have the beforenoon “tea” option as do find the afternoon tea option very repetitive to cover all peoples tastes (macaroon, biscuit, mousse, rainbow layer sponge etc), but this too could become the case. However it is of a solid standard that nothing is too dry or undercooked etc. Generally my last few visits have felt the service could be met with more attentive servers (not all) who may be able to carry plates/drinks but also be aware of the subtle gestures made my customers, as for the ambience waving like a maniac or calling out for attention doesnt suit the venue, and maybe some retraining on how to make pots of tea too may be needed!

    Went with the family for my birthday and it was perfect! It’s so nice inside beautiful and cosy, service was brilliant and food was amazing!! I’m gluten free and I have never had such a beautiful and delicious selection of treats. There was zero FOMO I had almost the same as the gluten full options. I loved the little pastries and I will deffo go back just for a cream tea at some point because the scones were amazing. I had to take some of the cakes home because I couldn’t eat them all. I loved the tea options. I also love how they can cater for all dietary requirements. As well as me being gf my daughter is vegetarian and my husband’s not keen on cake so took the fish one and they were all so good 👌🏻👌🏻

    We are fairly frequent visitors to the Assembly House when visiting Norwich. We have never had a bad meal. The choice is very good and my food intolerances are always dealt with. The service is first rate and very traditional (which is no bad thing) and surprisingly quick.The surroundings are amongst the best in the area and truly relaxing. We will continue to visit and would highly recommend a visit.
