    Omawei is an omakase experience from Chef Wei Chen, former chef at Sushi Nakazawa in the West Village of New York City. Taking residency at the Peninsula for four weeks, Omawei can be experienced on the beautiful terrace of the Belvedere restaurant. Inspired by the rich culinary diversity of New York City, Chef honed his craft in some of the city’s most esteemed kitchens, including Neta, 15 East, and Shuko. It was under the tutelage of sushi master Daisuke Nakazawa at Nakazawa where Chef Wei’s artistry truly flourished, shaping his meticulous approach to Japanese cuisine. At Omawei, guests are invited to in intimate culinary journey, seated at a ten-seat chef's sushi counter, where Chef Wei personally curates a multi-course culinary omakase. The $295 tasting menu ($354 inclusive of service charge) begins with an array of exquisitely crafted small plates before culminating in a refined selection of nigiri and delicate dessert. As the experience takes place outdoors, we kindly ask our guests to dress accordingly. In the event of rain, all reservations, unfortunately will have to be cancelled or re-scheduled. While substitutions and modifications are politely declined, we are happy to accommodate allergies or dietary restrictions with advanced notice.

                                                                              We loved the atmosphere and the food featured for Dine LA. Unfortunately it got busier toward the end of our lunch. We asked for the dessert menu. They were short staffed, and no one was able to take our dessert order. It was getting late, so we asked for our check.

                                                                              Sunday 23 December brunch. Our server was great but it was obvious they were understaffed. Before Covid I had come to expect consistent five star service from five star establishments. Still to this day, I notice service lapses that dilute the experience: - No greeter at hotel lobby - Difficult to get directions from staff to restaurant - Food service was slow and unorganized (my wife had to wait 20 minutes after her BFF and I had started eating for her food to arrive. Afterwards we went to the hotel lounge and had some drinks and small dishes during which time the server there forgot something on our order and never once checked on us. We had to chase her down on multiple occasions. My drink was horrible.

                                                                              We had a large party of 8. The service, food, atmosphere are always a 10 out of 10. The Belvedere never disappoints. Beautiful, elegant & festive. Jessica our waiter  made some amazing executive decisions before my guest arrived and brought out a couple of cheese boards and charcuterie trays to get the party started. Brilliant idea. You will not find it on the menu, but ask for it  if you are having a festive gathering.
