This small renowned restaurant in the heart of Ilkley was founded in 1962. It was the first 2 Michelin Starred restaurant outside of London and for over 60 years has continued to be at the forefront of northern Gastronomy.

The modern British menu and extensive wine cellar offer food lovers an unforgettable experience. The kitchens commitment to the best, freshest ingredients, with an emphasis on locally sourced, fresh ingredients from farmers and local suppliers.

The Box Tree represents a combination between 21st century efficiency and exquisite good taste. Whilst the kitchen boasts the latest equipment, the restaurant features a collection of art and antiques which define the style and luxury for which the Box Tree is famed.

If you value the best food, the best wines, the best service and the best atmosphere, you just can’t go wrong here. Just spectacular. If you can afford it, go often and if you can’t, save up. You won’t regret it.

Overall a good experience. Some dishes outstanding, others not so. It was Valentines Day so the company was excellent! However, what spoilt the occasion was that there's an awkward link between two dining rooms which requires ducking down to get through to the table. Unfortunately no one warned me and I ended up cracking my head and nearly knocking myself out. Certainly saw stars with a bit of whiplash for a good hour or so. The waiter should have warned me. The dining room is not the warmest and cooled down through the afternoon as people departed.

We booked to eat at BoxTree on a Thursday 6Pm (early sitting) the restaurant rang the day before to ask if we could amend the booking, since they had no other covers that day. Since we were coming from out of town and staying in Ilkley overnight, we had a hotel we could no longer cancel without paying the full price, so asked if we could keep the reservation, since we really wanted to attend due to a past recomendation. So we had the place to ourselves, which was one of the most amazing dining experiences we've had and we've eaten at various Michelin starred restaurants throughout the country. The staff made us feel so comfortable and were extremly friendly, plus the food was absolutely exceptional. It was an experience we won't forget. I would recommend and return to the Box Tree again.

The atmosphere and the food was as good as we anticipated. Unfortunately the wine flight was disappointing, the wine paired with the food reasonably well but at £80 for 4 very small glasses we did not think this represented good value. It would have been better to have a glass of white, a glass of red and a dessert wine which would have been half the price for normal measures.

We went to the Box Tree with my wife for a special lunch. Everything was superb. We were really impressed. The flavours were fantastic, really fresh and combinations that went together beautifully. We would definitely recommend. As good as many of the Michelin starred restaurants in the area!
