The Duncombe Arms is a beautiful, traditional country pub situated at the heart of the lovely rural village of Ellastone on the Staffordshire / Derbyshire border. Located on the edge of the Peak District near the towns of Ashbourne and Uttoxeter it is a great place to visit providing a delightful setting in which to enjoy a drink, some lovely food, as well as a chat with friends or family.

Come inside and enjoy a roaring log fire, sample our excellent range of beers and wines or enjoy fabulous food from our award-winning chef Scott Law. Or in the summer you can laze in our large garden overlooking the view to Worthy Island Wood.

Thoroughly enjoyed the starter and the main course was good. The service charge is a little off putting in the present climate.

Peerless in the local area. Food superb, some amazing dishes which were all good. From chicken pie to steak, risotto, chicken parfait to tarts tatin all superb Local bar also part of the pub restaurant which was nice to see. Only negative was one of the bar proper uppers decided it was ok to vape at the bar - pretty disgusting and staff seemed accepting of this as most diners had left at that point . Well done Duncombe, superb meal and top of your game

Lovely food and great atmosphere Good choice of wine too My only comment would be that when paying the bill you should verbally told that a 10% service charge is added. This is fine as the staff do a great job but it would be nice to now. You only know this from booking online and if you’re a party other members paying will not be aware.

Another delicious meal at the Duncombe Arms. One of our favourite place to celebrate any occasion! The Tarte Tatin is absolutely amazing - remember to order at the beginning of your meal - it's enough for 4!

Our favourite pub in the area - if we are working in the area we always stay here in one of their lovely rooms and look forward to the food. Excellent all round

Lovely meal in what could be nice surrounding but a little bit overcrowded. This wasn't helped by very noisy young ladies who can't talk or laugh quietly! But that's not you fault - it seems very common these days . A generation thing!!!

Eat in the restaurant. Cosy. Only issue? Little veg/sald with mains, I ordered the mussel started as amain, but I got the started size. It was ok as ordered fries with it. Otherwise all food delicious.

first visit and we’ll worth it Will definitely back once I have worked off the apple tarte tartin. The cow au vin pie was excellent. Compliments to the chef
