We made a res a month ago and were looking forward to the fine dining experience as we have had in the past at this restaurant. The food was very good, however, the service was extremely disappointing. The server was disinterested at best, even irritated, as well as inattentive. Any question we had seemed to annoy him. I would never expect this kind of service at a restaurant that is rated so highly. We had brought another couple with us and needless to say they were not impressed. I’m sure the chef/owner takes extreme pride in the food being served, but the service should be greatly enhanced to be on the same level.

There is a reason that we keep coming back to Saddle River Inn for both special occasions as well as just a dinner out. The food, service and ambiance are simply the best in the area. We will continue to recommend and keep coming back!

We had never been to the Saddle River Inn, as reservations are difficult to secure (the only negative aspect of the SRI). Our dinner was absolutely delicious 🤤, and the service was even better if that’s possible. We will definitely 💯 return and highly recommend the SRI.

The atmosphere is certainly the main draw, old charm, fine dining ambiance and plenty of room. We were lucky to have an excellent waiter (Ty) but here is where I go into the food. Appetizers; The Fois Gras was excellent however, 1 small piece on a toasted piece of bread at $36 was just not worth it. Crab cake, less than average, peanut noodles, well you can get that dish in many Asian restaurants for less than half the cost and double the portion, the smoked salmon w/ caviar was ordinary. Main courses, my duck was tasty but just ok, my wife’s pork was also average at best, our friends had the scallops and the steak both said …. Just ok. As for the deserts. The peanut butter mouse was good, the banana “French toast “ excellent and the chocolate tart was average. The above said, while the atmosphere is great the rest of the hype is just that, it runs on reputation. This is three out of five stars at best.
