   Recommended to us by family member. Husband had soup and fishcakes, though side order of veg needed as portion small. I had cheese souffle, which was tasty, but not well risen, and then moules frites, served with lovely mayo. Chips ok, moules poor; very small and stringy, which waitress passed onto chef. Chilean Sauvignon Blanc nothing to write home about. Service very good. Overall, thought pricing a bit on the high side.

   We had a wonderful meal at The Vintner. The service was friendly and efficient, the menu was varied and the dishes were chose were all excellent. It was reasonably expensive but we felt good value even so. We would definitely recommend.

   Food was OK. The Steak was particularly good but I wasn’t impressed with my burger. Should I return to the Vintner I won’t be ordering this again. From the deserts menu we liked the rasberry sorbet. One thing that I didn’t like (or understand): we were seated next to the kitchen door even though there were plenty of empty tables available. Location of table - very noisy, in the back of the restaurant, smells of different foods coming from the kitchen, the cook had some music on in there which is understandable but altered our dining experience. One more good thing: the table service was nice. Overall:food experience OK, we will stay away from the burger and should we ever return we’ll request a better table location.
