The world famous Walnut Room has been a Chicago tradition since 1907. Located on the 7th floor of Macy's on State Street, the Walnut Room was the first restaurant ever opened in a department store. Conveniently located in the heart of the Chicago theater district, the Walnut Room is an excellent choice to take a break from shopping or for a meal and a glass of wine before the show.
Enjoy our Famous Mrs. Herring's Chicken Pot Pie and other well known favorites on the menu.

We had a wonderful dinner at the Walnut Room. Our server Alexander was absolutely outstanding. He made our first visit one to remember. We hope we see him next time we are there! Absolutely great memories made for me and family! Thanks so much Walnut room!

It was absolutely not worth waiting few months for the dining experience in The Walnut Room. we have reserved the table on last September(like 3 months ago) for our son’s birthday and kindly asked if we could sit near by the Christmas tree( the only reason why almost everyone is there for, right?). But we were sitted far far back of the restaurant where you can not see ANY parts of the tree. we were very disappointed but we were there for special day so wanted to cheer everything up. Our server was nice but the place is too big for the servers to have communicate with customers, so it takes so long to order anything. The food was below our standards. Food was very lukewarm and salty, and wine glass cup came dirty. Overall, just NO for us

The atmosphere and service was great! Food came very quick. Unfortunately appetizers and dinner came at once (food was only warm). Otherwise everything else was great.

We were absolutely freezing, it made for a miserable experience. Chicken pot pie was just OK, Asiago chicken was decent. No guarantees to sit by the tree unless u have kids. Lex was definitely an awesome server.

16 people from the ages of 1 to 89! All enjoyed the food and drink, the decor. But the service was superlative! Pleasant, timely, attentive but not overwhelming. Fun place to gather to celebrate new beginnings🎉

Celebrating my birthday, my sister and I both had the pot pie and side salad. Pot pie was good side salad was just OK. My daughter had the mushroom ravioli. She thought it was just ok a little bland. Years ago, they used to have a buffet for the Christmas season. The food was much better then. Not enough to choose from now.
