The world famous Walnut Room has been a Chicago tradition since 1907. Located on the 7th floor of Macy's on State Street, the Walnut Room was the first restaurant ever opened in a department store. Conveniently located in the heart of the Chicago theater district, the Walnut Room is an excellent choice to take a break from shopping or for a meal and a glass of wine before the show.
Enjoy our Famous Mrs. Herring's Chicken Pot Pie and other well known favorites on the menu.

    This was a super stressful experience and probably not worth it just for the tree. The burger I got was so bland and flavorless i ended up sending it back for the meatloaf instead which was good but the sides that came with it were very small. Most of the dining room you can’t see the tree unless you’re sitting right next to it also. I felt rushed to eat and leave because there was so much going on. It just didn’t seem worth the $90 bill to eat here and only see the tree partially.

    Lori was an absolute JOY to have as a server today. The nicest, kindest person we’ve met there in years. The photographer (whose name escapes me) was very very sweet too, and made us all feel comfortable getting our pics taken. A great night for a great tradition.

    We had a wonderful experience at the Walnut Room. Our waiter, James, was incredible. He made us feel so welcome, and did not rush us through our meal. He was also very knowledgeable about the menu.

    Our meal was lovely. We had a large party and they accommodated our reservation so well. Charles our server was great, loved him! Another traditional holiday Chicago event - hank you for keeping this alive Macys!

    It is always fun to come here at Christmastime as the Christmas tree is fun to sit by and enjoy its beauty. Our waiter was so kind and even though he was very busy with a large table he did a nice job of getting our order and then received our drinks quickly followed by our food order quickly. We had the chicken pot pie and the Asiago crusted chicken and both were very good.
