The world famous Walnut Room has been a Chicago tradition since 1907. Located on the 7th floor of Macy's on State Street, the Walnut Room was the first restaurant ever opened in a department store. Conveniently located in the heart of the Chicago theater district, the Walnut Room is an excellent choice to take a break from shopping or for a meal and a glass of wine before the show.
Enjoy our Famous Mrs. Herring's Chicken Pot Pie and other well known favorites on the menu.

Excellent lunch in a historic room, by a window overlooking Chicago? Perfection. Food was delightful! Pot pie and mandarin orange chicken salad were ample, and tasty. The pot pie was perfectly season and the crust was flaky. Mint ice cream pie was dreamy and harkened back to Marshall Fields chocolates. Cocktails were also spot on! Nila, our helpful and cheerful server, was an added bonus and sealed the deal! Would definitely return!

Took along time to get water at first but the tasty food made up for it. I thought the inside was beautiful they have a big water fountain, chandeliers, and beautiful walnut wood walls everywhere.

The food was fresh and delicious. The cake was scrumptious, the filet mignon was made with perfection and the fish was just right. We loved it and it was our first time at the Walnut Room. We cannot wait to try the chicken pot pie. Thank you for over exceeding our expectations.

The entire dining experience was wonderful. We’re 2 couples from the Philippines touring Chicago. We went during Valentine’s Day and the set meal was delicious. We just did not appreciate the front reception. We came without reservation, and they quickly turned us away. I had to push and inquire about their online reservation platform to secure a table, which was easily available. All throughout the night, there were about 20 empty tables available so I don’t know why they turned us away without suggesting an online reservation. Overall, the food was great and we loved the restaurant experience. The ambiance lives up to its reputation. Perhaps improvements to the front reception training would be needed.
