東條は日本最南端の鹿児島にある大変美しい火山の麓で、戦後に育ちました。彼は若い頃に日本を代表する料亭のひとつで最高級和食店の、有名な大乃やで修行をしまた。大乃やで何年も1日16時間働いた東條は、彼が今日でも活用している2000種もの和食のレシピを修得しました。彼はこの時期に最高級で新鮮な魚や農産物を選別する目を養いました。東條の創作への情熱は当時は厳格であった和食の壁を越えたため、彼は1971年に北米に移りました。東條はここの先入観のない多文化は、彼の考えをより受け入れてくれるだろうと感じました。彼はバンクーバーで彼の完璧なお客様を見つけたのです。

    Wished they used fresh grated wasabi as the paste downgraded the experience. Tojo roll was good, but was not rolled out evenly, we even found shell in one of the pieces, not what I expected from this restaurant. Asked for our tea to be filled up; but a new pot came and was charged for it, wouldn’t mind paying but would have been nice to have a heads up. The hon maguro toro was the highlight.

    The best japanese food in Vancouver. Excellent restaurant. Chef Tojo has a great talent and personality. The decoration could be updated but the food and service is what we really appreciate.

    Honestly, this place has gone down hill. The food was low quality and over-priced. There is a lot better sushi in Vancouver. We paid $45 for about 3 ounces of low-quality salmon. And the server ignored us at the end of our meal and we had get up and find someone to be able to pay. I think this was a great place back in its day, but they need to up their game.

    Dining at Tojo’s was a truly sublime experience. The elegant and tasteful dining room is quiet and the wait help are all extremely attentive and knowledgeable. And the seasonal omakase was perfect in every way - flavor, beautiful presentation and balance of flavors and textures.

    Not sure why the restaurant is empty. N was truly disappointed with the prawn tempura and salmon nigiri. Service was great

    Visiting Tojo feels like coming home. We've been dining there for over 27 years, and the staff always provide attentive yet unobtrusive service. While the prices are higher than other Japanese restaurants, every penny is worth it. We've never had a bad experience or meal. Tojo crafts each dish with heart, and if you've seen his documentary, you'll understand his philosophy and appreciate his food even more. I hope Tojo stays healthy and continues to create his extraordinary cuisine.
