Chef Gaetano Ascione brings international flair to Indiana. A native of Italy, and fluent in five languages, Chef Gaetano Ascione brings international flair to Munster, with experience, teaching, owning restaurants, consulting, and running hotels on four continents – Asia, Europe, Africa and North America. He served both Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan as Chef de Cuisine at the Georgetown Club in Washington, D.C., and served as Executive Chef for the Inaugural Banquet for President Nelson Mandela in South Africa.

He is a member of the Confrérie de la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs 1248-1950, the American Culinary Federation, and the Gruppo Virtuale Cuochi Italiani. Ascione was a finalist in the “Chef of the Year” competition at the World Gourmet Summit in Singapore in 2001.

    It was my first time at Fiorno and I was celebrating my birthday. I loved the look of the place, very nice upscale. Our server Jennifer was awesome. She was attentive and friendly. We ordered appetizers and entrees and bread was served to the table. The bread wasn’t that great. It didn’t have any sort of accompaniment (butter, oil or Parmesan) and it could have used something. The calamari was delicious but our entrees were just okay. There was nothing bad about them but there was nothing special about them either. Nothing stood out. I ordered a dessert-the apple pie and it was also just ok. I thought I might get candle or happy birthday message in icing but nope. Just the pie. Overall, nice place with nice food.

    Have been here and sat on both sides of restaurant many times and it is always good. The last two times on the Fiori side both the food and the service have been excellent. Great wine too! We will be back!!!

    Attentive staff and great food. The Branzino was perfectly cooked. We will be back!

    It's great to see quality food in NW Indiana. We don't have to run to Chicago all the time. The chef's food is excellent! You can tell he/she cares about the food experience.

    Young staff, poor service, just an overall bad experience. Only good thing chef tried her best to help out the front of the house. But they still dropped the ball.

    The bread they brought to the table was rock hard and we had to ask repeatedly to get additional oil for it. Drinks were ok. The food was very bland, white sauce tasted like buttered noodles and red sauce was soupy. Huge letdown of a place that is priced so high.

    Oh my Goooood! Best food my husband and friends have had in a WHILE!! Positively impressed with the portions, the taste and the service. I ordered the zucchini flower, the Halibut and a passion fruit for dessert, and my husband had the octopus (soo tender!), ribeye steak and Guava cheese cake. Everything was fabulous! Can’t wait to go back!

    Our first time eating there. We got sat at a half booth, half table and could almost reach out and touch the people next to us we were so close. My drink tasted like rubbing alcohol, and our pasta was flavorless.
