   Go to Oishi for semi casual or Tei-An for high-end. We recently moved back to Dallas after living in Austin for 10 years and are used to the Uchi Austin’s restaurants (which are some of the best Japanese and Japanese fusion restaurants around) and Uchi Dallas was absolutely mediocre. We assumed Uchi Dallas was as high-end, romantic, and reliable but it was unbelievably casual (athletic shorts, baseball hats, T-shirts casual). The tuna and scallop nigiri were slimy and borderline hot. The sushi rice was very overcooked with a consistency of oatmeal. The best dish was the Brussels sprouts. We were incredibly disappointed and will not be returning. You’ll find better sushi from Whole Foods.

   I have been here 3 or 4 times, always ordering the Chef’s Market selection option so I’m never sure what to expect. All plates are perfect, and demonstrate commitment to new flavors, texture and artistic presentation. Even items that are not my favorite deserve acclaim. Service goes with all other aspects, right down to valet parking. This dinner always satisfies, to the end I do not know what’s in the remaining menu. Not a minor expense, but a great experience with a friend and this seems more valuable to me. Last time, I didn’t book in time so had to make a 4:15 pm dinner reservation, which turned out to be nice in that the crowd wasn’t as loud . I’ll do that again.

   Uchi is some of my favorite food in Dallas. I like the atmosphere here, a nice place for a date night or intimate dinner group.

   This is the second time my partner and I have had Justin as a server and he was exceptional both times. The food is consistently amazing at all Uchi locations, but I am leaving this review to highlight how much we appreciate Justin's care. Thank you!

    We are huge sushi lovers, so we were excited to try Uchi after all the rave reviews. We ordered the Omakasi and were very disappointed in the flavors and mostly filler foods they presented us. Definitely will not be back. (the a5 wagyu and fried milk were good though)
