This is not what is used to be. The bbq (chicken and brisket) had good smoke; however, the meat was not seasoned. We ordered the smoked chicken wings as an appetizer. They wings were HUGE. If you like big, pumped up chicken, this is your spot. Hate to say this, but I will not be going back! Virgil’s was once a gem for good bbq, but not any more.

We enjoyed our time at Virgil’s! My partner is a celiac and the team couldn’t have made us feel more safe and comfortable. Even the manager came over to explain what we could and couldn’t have. The food was delicious! If we wasn’t leaving NYC the next day we would have returned. The vibe of the restaurant was great and we loved being able to watch the games that were on. My cocktail was also lovely! We left feeling full and extremely content! Thank you!

Service was really good considering how busy the place was. They let us stay as long as we wanted, very friendly and accommodating. Food was great, vibe was energetic. Would recommend to anyone visiting NYC and looking for a good BBQ joint that's fun, festive and within walking distance to pretty much everything.

The bbq was pretty good for NYC. The sides were hit-or-miss. Grits and potatoes were good. The rice and corn were terrible. The service was very poor. Our waiter never came back after we ordered. We never got refills, and we had to flag down someone else for our check 20 minutes after we were done eating.
